Ancestors

Cor de La Bryere

Cor de La Bryere is the stallion that revolutionized jumping horse breeding. His is the name astute breeders like to see, especially on the mare line, for ‘Cord’ tends to give great form over a jump.
His sire the French Thoroughbred, Rantzau, was bred to be a jumper being a descendant of the enormously influential Bay Ronald.  Rantzau was 3rd on the jumping sires rankings. He remained for many years one of the leading sires of broodmares. On the bottom side, Cor de la Bryère was royally bred, out of Quenotte B, by Lurioso a son of the most influential Precipitation son, Furioso. Cor de La Bryere was not only a sire himself but a sire of sires. The full brothers, Caletto I, II were stars, as were the brother quartet of Calypso I - V. In the jumping arena, his handsome grey son, Corrado has been a star for Franke Sloothaak, while Cordalmé Z with Gilbert Böckmann has also been successful at international level.

ContenderContender is proving to be one of the most influential sons of Calypso II. Contender is out of the Ramiro daughter, Gofine who was in turn by the great Thoroughbred sire, Ladykiller.Contender won the 1987 Adelheidsdorf stallion performance test with a jumping index of 146.62. He went on to be the 1-b main premium vice-champion in Oldenburg on the basis of his excellent first foal crop.  Contender has dominated German breeding values for many years & continues to produce exciting young stallions. As of 2006, in Holstein, Oldenburg, Hannover and Rhineland, Contender has produced 782 registered mares, 498 successful offspring in the sport. He is now one of the most sought after stallions in Germany today. Contender was ranked third in the list of the world's best show jumping sires in 2004.

stallion Calypso IICalypso II has been one of the most important sires in both Holstein & Hannover where he bred international competitors, & influential breeding stallions. It was Calypso II who introduced the Cor de la Bryère blood to Hannover, ushering a new era of Hanoverian jumping breeding. All Calypso II progeny show not only great jumping form, but also a wonderful rideability. He produced winners of  1.5 million deutschmarks, with 557 competitors.  His breeding index on the basis of his competition horses is 132 for dressage and 150 for jumping

LordLord was one of the early stallions to jump successfully in competition. His first crop produced the international show jumper, Livius who won the 1980 German show jumping Derby under Peter Luther, & then team medals at the 1981 European Championships, the World Championships of 1982 & the 1984 Olympic Games. Some of the successful competitors by Lord include Luguna (K. Huck), Lafeyette (H. Schmidt), Actrice (C. O. Nagel), Lusius (E. Gundel) & Pedro who competed at the World Championships in Dublin with Thomas Frühmann, Loyal 9 (P. Nagel-Tornau) and many more. Successful sire sons include Lantaan in Holstein, & the sadly short-lived, Lord Liberty in Oldenburg. In all, Lord sired more than 60 stallion sons, & his progeny won more than Euro 3,000.000.
